Tasdeaf Gala Ball - Tickets now on Sale!

Tasdeaf will host a black and white Gala Ball for the Tasmanian Deaf community, held at the Wrest Point Casino on 27th February. Tasdeaf would appreciate your support and contribution by attending the formal.

What is AUSLAN?

AUSLAN is Australian Sign Language. It is the language of the Deaf community in Australia and it was recognised as a language by the Federal Government in 1981. It is a visual language incorporating signs, body language and facial expressions.

How does AUSLAN work?

Auslan is not a visual form of English, rather it is a language in its own right, with its own grammar rules and features. An example:

English: I want to go to the shops
AUSLAN: I shop I want go
