AUSLAN is a fully recognised language differing in structure to spoken English. It is the native language of the Australia Deaf Community.

Tasdeaf provides interpreting services statewide in many settings such as medical, legal, meetings, and other situations when there is a need for communication between a hearing person and a signing deaf person.

Fees for service is negotiable.

We need financial support from individuals and organisations sensitive to the needs of Deaf and Hearing Impaired people. Hearing loss is invisible, so the need of Deaf people are often overlooked and misunderstood. This leads to the failure of necessary financial support for deaf people.

The facts are that the inability to hear can create barriers to communication in many areas. This can lead to educational, social, and vocational disadvantage. The Tasmanian Deaf Society works towards breaking down those barriers while promoting a positive image of deafness.

Donations and bequests are gratefully accepted to support our organisation. For information how to make a donation or bequest, please contact Grant Roberts.

Donations of $2.00 and over are tax deductible. If you would like to make a donation, please click on the form below and send it to the Hobart Office. A receipt will be sent to you in acknowledgement of your donation.
